Super-foods firm selects Innovia’s bioplastic film

Innovia has reached an agreement with Canadian super-foods firm Dr Vie to supply it with a metallized version of its NatureFlex biodegradable packaging film
Dr Vie produces a range of all-natural products, such as acai berry raw chocolate bars, which are aimed at consumers looking to improve their general well-being and prevent illness. NatureFlex is a compostable cellulose packaging film derived from wood pulp. The metallized version provides similar functional performance as conventional metallized film but biodegrades, even in a home composting system, says Innovia. The Montreal-based firm individually cuts and shapes the NatureFlex film to wrap each product at its factory. The film is said to keep the Dr Vie products in “excellent condition” because of its high moisture barrier, which has a transmission rate of less than 10g/m? per day (38°C, 90% RH). It is certified to meet the American ASTM D6400 and European EN13432 standards and has a renewable bio-based content of around 95% by weight.
