Nestle Waters North America Inc. credits its 9.3-gram half-liter Eco-Shape bottle with helping the company exceed its goal for using less plastic
The Greenwich-based company said it would extend the use of the lightweight PET bottle to other brands beginning in the spring, and roll-out of additional bottle sizes will also begin in 2010. Nestle Waters had set a goal in 2008 to reduce its plastics use by 15 percent by 2010. "We've reduced our use of plastic resin by 80 million pounds annually, while also making sure the bottle is durable and appealing for consumers." said Andrius Dapkus, director of innovations and renovations, in a news release. The company also said that it is making progress toward its goal of developing a bottle made entirely from recycled materials or renewable resources by 2020.
