Celanese Corp. is buying the long-fiber reinforced thermoplastics (LFT) business of FACT GmbH (Future Advanced Composites Technology) of Kaiserslautern, Germany
The change in ownership is effective Dec. 31. Terms were not disclosed. FACT, a business unit of Ravago Group, said it is a leading producer of long-fiber reinforced thermoplastics used in injection molding, extrusion, compression molding and blow molding applications. The LFT technology will fit into Ticona Engineering Polymers, part of Celanese's Advanced Engineered Materials unit. “This acquisition will grow the company's Celstran product line and combine development capabilities of both companies to serve increasingly demanding customer and segment expectations in the automotive industry and in general industrial applications,” said Roeland Polet, vice president of Ticona, in a news release.
