RepiItalian company Repi offers at Russian market modern technologies for polymer coloring using liquid pigments and high-precision dosing units

Among the variety of plastic products we rarely see non-colored ones. We surround ourselves with things colored in bright, saturated, eye-pleasing tones or in natural-looking, placid shades making our living environment more comfortable.
For every plastic article – be it car interior elements made of PU, ABS and PP; PVC profiles and sidings; HDPE or PET bottles; PP containers for foods or PU, TPU or PVC sport shoes soles – producers try to select the only needed, the most suitable shade. And they take advantage of the state-of-the-art plastic coloring technologies.
Repi, and Italian company backed up by 34-year experience and reputed highly all over the world, offers today its exclusive production – liquid colorants suitable for all the listed materials and any other polymer feedstock.
What is the difference between these colorants and other ones available and why do the first enjoy the growing demand from polymer processing companies?
Liquid colorant is pigments dispersed in basic liquid. The basic liquid, as well as pigments are selected individually for each material. In some cases – like with two-component polyurethanes – only liquid colorant can be used. In case of granulated feedstock it’s possible to choose between dry and liquid colorant. However, if you want high-quality coloring, you should prefer the liquid one because liquid covers each granule and the finished product gets more homogeneous shade, without stripes and stains. Besides, often liquid colorants are more economic for they are required in smaller amounts. For example, to color transparent PET-bottles blue standard masterbatch percentage needed is 0.1%, while to achieve the same effect with liquid colorant the sufficient percentage is 0.02%. Thus, even if the price for 1 kg of liquid colorant is higher than for the same amount of standard masterbatch, it is compensated by the economy coming from the fact that liquid colorant ensures the same effect in concentration of 20% from the amount of dry counterpart. The same economy rate can be achieved in coloring PC, PS and PP parts – everywhere where you want to get transparent or translucent shades.
In other productions – like in PVC or ABS profile extrusion or in sputtering PU covers in building construction – liquid colorant is also a more economic variant, since for these purposes Repi offers a simple basic colorants technology. It’s enough to have only ten basic colorants to get the desirable shade. This technology is most suitable for producing differently colored goods in small parties in accordance with the customer’s demand. The economy is achieved through keeping in the store and only basic colorants that can be regularly replenished and there’s not much colorant remaining as it happens with specific shades of dry colorants.
Repi supports its customers by giving them formulations, providing training courses for colorants application and consultations about the suitable equipment.
To ensure precision in feeding the colorants Repi offers special a line of dosing units for different spheres. U2005 dosing unit is used for thermoplastics, processed by injection molding as well as by extrusion. CP1 and C4P2 units dose colorants and batch them to machine’s mixing head for molding soles. All the dosing units are especially tailored by Repi. The company’s technical department tests the equipment at the customers’ production sites and arranges operators’ training.
