Polybutene-1, discovered more than half a century ago, is just entering the Russian market. This polymer is the third (after polyethylene and polypropylene) member of polyolefin family. It possesses a number of unique properties not typical for other polyolefins and very often polybutene-1 is used as a pure material. In compositions with polyethylene polybutene-1 is applied for adhesion of sealant polypropylene layer. And in compositions with other thermoplastic materials (PP and PE, in particular) polybutene-1 is used as a modifier in production of various film types, especially films for easy-open packaging.
