Composite electrical insulators with glass-plastic rod and polymer coating due to their high maintenance properties force out traditional glass and ceramic strings. Polymer insulators feature high reliability, light weight (10-15 times lighter than analogous ceramic insulators), resistance to mechanical loading and vandalism, simplicity for transportation and mounting, high environmental resistance, water repellence, self-cleaning. An important stimulus for development and organization of polymer insulator production is relatively small investments.
