A problem of applying computers for injection molding oversteps the bounds of this method of plastics processing only. The burning question is the right handling of the problem enables to predict tendencies of development and to estimate real resources and opportunities computers may offer (in the nearest future) in their practical application for plastics processing.
Electronic calculating machines in their development has covered a very short way, but in extremely fast pace: approximately for a half a century they have advanced from huge valve "fossils" to tiny all-penetrating logical chips. Miniaturizing of calculating machines was accompanied by rapid increase of intellectual perfection. As a result, a computer managed to beat a Chess World Champion in a chess contest. Chips are surely starting to "occupy" human body. Plastics processing equipment is not the main sphere of computers" application. Nowadays in a number of human activities computers are applied more efficiently than in plastics processing industry. Nevertheless, computers in injection molding machines have already a great influence on improving a technical level of plastics processing by injection molding.
