First green medicine bottle launch, claims Rexam

15/10/2008

Rexam Prescription Products said it is the first to develop and launch a liquid prescription oval bottle made from 100% post-consumer recycled PET.

The bottle is available in two, three, four, six, eight, 12 and 16 ounce sizes and can be recycled repeatedly, further reducing resource consumption and environmental impact.
The recycled oval package will be available from next month in retail pharmacies nationwide and it meets the same government standards as its current virgin PET line.
These include the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) requirements for light transmission and moisture permeation, the Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CSPC) child-resistant and senior-friendly protocol requirements and FDA resin standards.
